Book Donation to the Department for the Study of Religion, University of Ghana

During the 2025 Ghana International Book Fair (GIBF), I visited the GOFREE stand (https://m.gofreebooks.com/) and was given the opportunity to select titles of interest for the University of Ghana Library System (UGLS)

Additionally, I received multiple copies of the following titles—Belief and Islam, Booklet for Way to Paradise, The Sunni Path, and Ethics of Islam—to be distributed to students of the University of Ghana for their reading

The books were officially received on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at the Balme Library, University of Ghana, by a delegation from the Department for the Study of Religion. The delegation included Dr. Haruna Zagoon-Sayeed (Coordinator, for Islamic Studies from the Department), Ms. Janet Agyei-Boadi (Library Assistant), and a representative of the student body.

The University Librarian, Mr. Samuel Bentil Aggrey, officially presented the books and encouraged the students to read broadly in pursuit of knowledge. Upon receiving the books, Dr. Zagoon-Sayeed expressed his appreciation and assured that the copies would be distributed to dedicated students

Collection Management and Acquisitions within the UGLS

On Friday, August 13 I was a guest at a Radio Universe programme; "Let's go to the Library". Radio Universe is at the University of Ghana. Host was Mr. Abdulai Khan.

The one hour programme was a discussion on collection development of the University of Ghana Library System narrowing to the Balme Library. There was a digression on the Public Procurement Law, as it has affected UGLS library book acquisitions to a large extend.
